This category is about music and the ultimate challenge to test your versatility. This is all about using skills to adapt to whatever our Champs DJ throws at you. With 4 x 30 seconds of contrasting songs mashed together, you'll be tested on your ability to adapt to changes in genre, mood, tempo and style.

 

From slow to fast, swing to latin, disco to acoustic, challenging to upbeat - will you be able to change the flavour and style of your dance interpretation on the go? Expect anything from modern charts, swing, country, hip hop, Motown, acoustic, latin, blues, and SILC.

Competition Rules

 

  • This category is open to amateurs and professionals.
     

  • Couples will dance to edited music chosen for the ‘Musical Mashup’ category.
     

  • There will be music changes between a variety of genres and temp. So all dance styles are permitted.
     

  • All judging will be by a points system. Dancers are encouraged to dance to the end of their heat. Qualifying dancers will be asked back to the next round. Judges decisions are final.
     

  • Points will mainly be awarded for versatility and adaptation to music change, rather than the number/difficulty of moves.
     

  • Judges will NOT award points for dress and presentation.
     

  • Airsteps, (lifts), will not be permitted. Disqualification from the competition will be automatic should a couple attempt these moves.
     

  • Drops will be permitted provided that the ball of one of the lady's feet remains in contact with the ground. Otherwise, the move will be defined as an airstep.
     

  • Dance Teachers/professionals are allowed to enter this section.
     

  • Partners must not release hand hold or break contact for more than Twelve beats.

  • The lead and follow aspect of the dance must clearly be demonstrated.
     

  • Competitor numbers are strictly limited to 20 couples so places are allocated on a first come first served basis.
     

  • CSW reserves the right to change the programme and competition if necessary without consultation.
     

  • The event will be recorded by film, video and photograph; these may be used for Ceroc promotional purposes without any obligation.
     

  • The organisers accept no responsibility for loss or injury to persons or possessions in relation to this event. before or during the event.
