Pro Am 'lead'

IMPORTANT
 

This competition is open to couplings comprising of a dance professional and a non-dance professional (an amateur). Therefore the AM is the lead. The Dance Professional and the Amateur will be judged as a couple.
 

Dance Professional definition:

  • Anyone who has taught more than 6 times in the previous 6 months.

  • Anyone who is intending to teach more than 6 times in the next 6 months.

  • Anyone who has danced at, or currently dances at Open level.

 

Dance Amateur definition for this category ONLY:

  • Anyone who does not fit into the definition of a Dance Professional.

  • Anyone who has not entered the Dragon Open level at the Welsh Champs or any other Open level category at a modern jive competition since 2011 or intending to enter an Open category this year.

 

Competition Rules

  • This category is open to partnerships consisting of a dance professional follow and a lead amateur dancer.
     

  • Couples will dance to music chosen by the organisers. This could include anything from the 40's to present day.
     

  • All judging will be by a points system. Dancers are encouraged to dance to the end of their heat. Qualifying dancers will be asked back to the next round.
     

  • Judges decisions are final.
     

  • Points will be awarded for style, musical interpretation, innovation, synchronisation of dancers, quality of dancing as well as the variety and complexity of moves.
     

  • Judges will NOT award points for dress and presentation. This category will be judged simply on the quality of the dancing as described above and entrants are requested to dress simply.
     

  • 1 Baby Airstep move per track will be permitted plus drops, leans. NO Major Airstep or Inverted moves are permitted (Please see definitions in the FAQ sub section).
     

  • The lead and follow aspect of the dance must clearly be demonstrated.
     

  • The dance must be recognisable as Ceroc  (dances such as Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, 50s style Rock 'n' Roll, Ballroom Jive etc are not Ceroc and therefore are not permitted).
     

  • Dance Teachers/professionals are allowed to enter this section as the Pro Only.
     

  • Competitor couples or partnerships from the Intermediate & Advanced Freestyle Trophy sections are not permitted to enter this section.
     

  • A maximum of 20 couples will be able to compete in this section.
     

  • CSW reserves the right to change the programme and competition if necessary without consultation.

  • The event will be recorded by film, video and photograph; these may be used for Ceroc promotional purposes without any obligation.
     

  • The organisers accept no responsibility for loss or injury to persons or possessions in relation to this event.

  • There will be no refund for entrants who pull out of this category either before or during the event.
